WMSS is moving!

Starting with the 2007-1008 school year, the Middletown Area School District has opened a new middle school to replace the aging Feaser middle school where WMSS currently resides. This means WMSS will be moving into the new middle school.

Moving a radio station is no small task. New studios have to be designed and built. Wiring must be run, and finally a new transmission facility has to be built. The studios have been built, and we are working on completing the rest of the tasks necessary to complete the building of the new facility. Check back periodically for updates on our progress.

On Monday, October 22, 2007, a major step forward was taken towards completion of the new radio station when the Middletown School board approved a contractor to erect the new broadcast tower at the Middletown Area Middle School. Completion of this portion fo the project is expected to take around 6 weeks, after which we will be making our final move into the new station.

On Wednesday, October 24, 2007, another major step was taken when the new, digital, broadcast consoles were delivered and installed. The president of the company that manufactured the consoles, Dan Braverman of Radio Systems, Inc., personally delivered the consoles and provided instruction and assistance on configuring and setting them up. There is still a great deal of work to be done before the consoles can be considered ready for use - much cabling and configuration remains - however we fully expect to be ready to go before the tower construction is completed.
